Subtitles

Subtitles are a way to translate the dialogue of a video, plus any relevant onscreen text, into a different language. As they are aimed at hearing audiences, they don't include sound effects or labels.

Subtitles enable your video to reach non-English-speaking audiences around the world. They also allow search engines to find your video content, in non-English-speaking markets.

As with captions, subtitles can be open (permanently visible) or closed (switchable on or off). We usually recommend closed subtitles - they're usually easier to set up, they're more versatile and they allow you to offer one video clip with subtitles in many different languages.
