So, we finally got some downtime to sort out the long-promised overhaul of the internetsubtitling.com blog.

The previous blog was built natively in Joomla!, as a series of articles, in exactly the same way as the rest of our site. If anyone's considering doing a blog that way, I really wouldn't recommend it. We had to update categories and menu items practically every time we posted anything, and tedious doesn't even begin to describe it. It was also fairly rubbish for SEO, and decidedly so-so for comments.

The search was on for a solution that would integrate nicely with our Joomla! site and yet be friendly and slick enough to use that it wouldn't restrict or deter us from posting things. We found the answer in a Joomla! component called EasyBlog. It's been exceptionally easy to set up, it integrates with everything including passers-by and the nearby wildlife, and it even imported all the posts from our old blog automatically. We still have a few tweaks to make but so far the blog's looking much improved in every way, so even though EasyBlog is a paid-for component (we usually prefer open source or free software, for reasons we'll be making clear in a forthcoming blog post) we're happy to recommend it.
